Arranged by: Abba Bendavid Abba Bendavid’s synopticon has served Bible scholars since it was first published. Realizing the importance for Bible scholars worldwide, these parallel passages in the Hebrew Bible are placed side by side and lexical variants between the two versions appear in red. The comparisons can illuminate differences in dialects (e.g. as between Kings and Chronicles) or between predilections of the respective authors. The first-time user may be surprised that there are other parallel texts besides Samuel, Kings and Chronicles. Bendavid has them all. It is the hope of the Publisher that Bendavid’s Parallels in the Bible will continue to serve new generations of biblical scholars and historians. This book of parallels is arranged synoptically and reveals the historiography of the Bible from the Creation to the Return from Exile. The list of Levitical cities should also be ascribed to the period of the United Monarchy. Only under David were all the towns of the list finally brought under Israelite control. After the division of the kingdom, the Levites abandoned their places in the north and migrated to Judah (2 Chr 11:13–14).
