The Travels Of The Spies And The Limits Of The Land Of Canaan
The travels of the spies and the limits of the Land of Canaan
According to an early tradition, there was an unsuccessful attempt to invade the land of Canaan from Kadesh-barnea in the south. Although the final objective in the north was indicated as Lebo-hamath on the northern border of Canaan, the account of the twelve spies sent from Kadesh-barnea focuses on the Hebron area, precisely where Caleb, the leading spy, eventually settled with his clan. Amalek was in the Negeb, namely the valleys east and west of Beer-sheba; Kadesh-barnea was in the Wilderness of Zin.
